Fire Risk Assessments
What are Fire Risk Assessments?
Do you know the Fire Safety Law changed in October 2006? This has had major implications for how fire safety is controlled in business premises by both the occupiers and the Fire Authorities. Under legislation, a fire risk assessment must be carried out for any non-domestic premises and then be regularly reviewed. If you have five or more employees, the assessment findings must be documented in a report.
Broadly speaking, the assessment should define measures that will reduce or eliminate the risk of fire by:
-
Identifying the fire hazards
-
Identifying people at risk
-
Evaluating, removing or reducing the risk, if possible, and protecting from risk
-
Recording the findings
-
Planning, instructing and training to act on the findings
Conducting a fire risk assessment can be daunting, which is why many companies use external experts. Our team are experienced in conducting fire risk assessments within residential and commercial property management settings.
