<p><strong>Duration</strong>:          3 Days</p>
<p><strong>Introduction</strong>:  This City and Guilds accredited course is intended for persons nominated to work in or at Confined Spaces where work has been assessed and classified as NC4 (High Risk).  These spaces are, primarily, substantially enclosed and where there is a potentially hazardous working environment and where Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) is required, or potentially required, to be worn. </p>
<p><strong>Pre-Course Requirements</strong>:  All delegates should be physically fit and capable of wearing Escape BA and SCBA.   </p>
<p><strong>Course Content</strong>:  Delivered in accordance with the Confined Space Regulations 1997 and City and Guilds 6150 requirements, successful completion of the course leads to an understanding of:</p>
<ul>
<li>Identifying a Confined Space and its hazards</li>
<li>The legal requirements</li>
<li>Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work</li>
<li>Equipment required to enter a Confined Space, including Gas Monitoring equipment, Tripods and Winches and ancillary safety equipment such as harnesses, ropes, lifelines.</li>
<li>The use of open circuit (CABA) Escape Breathing Apparatus and SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus)</li>
<li>Personal Protective Equipment and Hygiene</li>
<li>Examination, testing and maintenance of equipment</li>
<li>Ventilation and the avoidance of unsafe atmospheres</li>
<li>Communication and entry procedures</li>
<li>Training and personnel requirements</li>
<li>Practical training and exercises</li>
</ul>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This <strong>one-day course</strong> is approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) as meeting the mandatory training requirement for senior officers and key personnel on ships carrying passengers, as specified in the IMO Standards for Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW 95) Code Sections A-V/2 &#038; 3 paragraphs 1, 3 and 5.</p>
<p>The course also has application in other maritime sectors, such as port passenger terminal personnel, river cruising vessels and offshore platforms.  Additionally, the course would also be appropriate for land-based personnel in, for example, leisure centres, shopping centres etc.</p>

<li>Crisis leadership, command and communications.</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This <strong>4 hour course</strong> details the duties and responsibilities of a fire warden, and an introduction to the nature and causes of fire, in addition to all the competencies trained in the Fire Awareness training course. This training course is delivered in accordance with the new Fire Safety Law 2005 requirements and assists any employer in achieving compliance with that law.</p>
<p>The course can be conducted here at Fire Security or, if more convenient, at your premises, and can be combined with the Fire Awareness course, as an extension to that course for your appropriate personnel. The course is aimed at supervisory staff and any persons nominated to be responsible for evacuation and use of portable fire fighting equipment.</p>
<p>The course includes:</p>
<ul>
<li>The theory of fire and the triangle of combustion.</li>
<li>Methods of fire spread and extinction.</li>
<li>Practical, hands on experience in the use of fire extinguishers in a safe and controlled environment.</li>
<li>The evacuation of a building.</li>

<li>How to identify the correct extinguisher, including the colour classifications.</li>
<li>How to select the correct extinguisher, dependent on the classification of fire, and use it safely.</li>
<li>Practical, hand on experience in the use of live extinguishers in a safe and controlled environment.</li>

<p>Successful completion of this course will result in a certificate of competence.</p>

</ul>
